9/7 Library Merger Update

The September 7 update for the library merger has been posted on the library's website.
A key commitment of the merger is that no MPL employee will experience a loss in total wages due to consolidation; impact bargaining agreements with each union will detail how affected MPL employees will be compensated. Preliminary results so far are similar to the estimate prepared last spring: approximately 20 percent of MPL employees are affected – before counting stability pay. The final percentage will be determined once the process is complete.
Not really sure what that means.

Still waiting to have access to MPL's catalog, too.

Hennepin County Library Merger Updates

There is now a website for the Minneapolis / Hennepin County library merger.

The newest update is here.

It discusses some of the teams being set up to work on the merger. It looks like the Minneapolis system will be merged into HCL and Minneapolis employees will be HCL employees. As a patron of HCL, I hope this goes smoothly and there is increased service and access to works in Minneapolis (and, more noble, that the transition is smooth and easy for the employees, too)
