For the love of books.
Just posted this on the board:Tim and I watched it last night and we TOTALLY dug it! I didn't agree with the thought that "nothing matters, everything is futile", but we thought it was really entertaining. I am really surprised at how many viewers are giving it a hard time. (check out blockbuster.com, amazon.com -- many 1 star reviews!) I think the reason why most people don't "get" this movie is because they haven't studying the wordlviews of existentialism and nihilism, which are the two main themes. In fact I don't remember nihilism being mentioned once, and an understanding of that is kind of crucial to digesting the movie. And when Naomi Watt's character starts dressing like a freaky Amish girl reject... priceless.(p.s. Hi Joe!)
